The Commonwealth of Virginia is full of long, rich, history. From the beginning of settlement in North America at Jamestown to the roads and highways of the Blue Ridge Parkway and the George Washington Memorial Parkway. Virginia also has many many battlefield locations in which visitors can learn about significant battles in American History. Battlefields such as Yorktown and Appomattox Court House, two key landmark war endings in American history.
Throught the last 100 years, the National Parks have been established to preserve the history of these locations so that many generations from now, visitors can read and visit these locations and learn about the historical significance.
